Abstract This study focused on the nexus between AI-based inventory management system and project outcome. The study examined the effect of AI-driven forecast on project completion time, assessed the effect of smart supply chain on project success, and determined the effect of decision support system on project quality. This study employed a survey research design. Primary data were obtained through a structured questionnaire. The questionnaires were distributed, and 284 were returned complete and usable. The adequacy of the sample was assessed using the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) measure. The research instrument underwent assessment for construct validity and reliability. Descriptive statistics were used to summarise respondents' demographic characteristics, while inferential statistics supported the testing of relationships among the study variables. Regression analysis was applied at a 5% significance level. Findings revealed that AI-based forecasting has a significant positive effect on the project completion time, and that smart supply chain has a significant positive effect on project success. Findings further revealed that decision support system has a significant positive effect on project quality. The study concluded that AI-driven forecast, smart supply chain, and decision support system all improve project outcomes among SMEs in Delta State. SME owners should adopt forecasting tools that use predictive analytics, and should invest in real-time tracking and coordination tools.
